Dear friends and supporters,
I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to shed light on the dire situation faced by the family of my fiancé, his sister Reema, and her four young children in Gaza. Their plight is one of unimaginable suffering and requires urgent assistance.
In these darkest hours, they are gripped by a paralyzing fear that pervades their days and nights. The specter of death looms large, intruding upon every aspect of their lives. They dread each passing day, with every night echoing the thunderous roar of bombs. Despite the immense hardship, Reema and her children manage to find moments of laughter, displaying remarkable resilience amidst the terror.
Reema, her husband, and their children are fortunate to still have a home that remains untouched by destruction. However, the Israeli army is mere kilometers away, leaving devastation in its wake. It feels as though death draws closer with each passing second. The cruelty of war has inflicted deep wounds, especially upon the children, who are terrified by the bombings. Their prospects for a normal life have been shattered, and they may never regain what was lost.
Our family has opened our doors to other displaced families. Refugee tents now dot the landscape outside our home. Abdallah has already lost two cousins to bombings in Rafah. Another brother of his perished in the previous war, leaving behind a widow and children. This family was forcibly displaced from their home and now resides in a refugee camp without a male provider. We are striving to provide them with financial support to ensure they have the daily essentials for survival.
Initially, we had hoped that with sufficient funds, our family could be evacuated. Unfortunately, this is no longer feasible, as the borders to Egypt in Rafah are blockaded. They are trapped and confined. Therefore, we will not primarily use the donations for evacuation but to aid other families as well. With recent donations, we were able to construct a water well, as the water supply has been severed. This well now provides clean water for several families in the vicinity, suitable for cooking.
We aim to continue supporting other families alongside our own. Our family will distribute food and cook meals for multiple families. Should an opportunity for evacuation arise, we will pursue it once more.
Every contribution you can make will significantly impact the lives of this desperate family.
Please support our campaign to bring them hope and the urgently needed assistance.
Thank you for your attention and potential support.
With heavy hearts
Verena and Abdallah
