Friends and associates of Sandra - our girl needs our help!

In early July 2024, Sandra was admitted to the hospital after not feeling well for some time and after recieving some disconcerting test results. The reality is that she was experiencing Stage 5 Kidney failure. This was a dire situation if not for the medical intervention she was able to receive. A 10-day stay and kidney biopsy resulted in learning that Sandra had experienced ANCA vasculitis which led to AKI (Acute Kidney Injury) and ARF (Acute Renal Failure). Thankfully, the diagnosis of Acute (as opposed to Chronic) means that there is hope to recover some use of her kidneys long term, versus a transplant being the only option. She has started on an intense regimen of dialysis for at least six months, after which the doctors will reassess the condition of her kidneys and advise future steps. This can include a return to normal life, more dialysis treatments, or worst case scenario, a transplant being needed at that time.

Sandra is home now and undergoing her dialysis treatments three days a week. The treatments are grueling and this means that she must focus on her health and nutrition to the extent that she is unable to work the day of or day after the treatments (6 days a week without work). Her income is now reduced to 1 day a week--with medical bills mounting. Even with insurance, it's yet to be determined what the outlay of cash will be for a 10-day hospital stay, as well as 6+ months of dialysis--all on a 1 day a week income. So, as her friends, it's time to help in generous ways to ensure that Sandra is able to take care of herself and her needs in order to survive.

This is how you can help:

1) Donate! Please offer what you can towards the steep costs she is facing.

2) If you can't donate, there are other ways you can help! She will need transportation 3 days a week to her dialysis treatments as she will be unable to drive due to the resulting exhaustion of the treatments. She needs volunteers TO (MWF afternoons) and FROM (MWF evenings) appointments in the Northwest Austin/Lakeline area and will need help with meals afterward, if possible, though not required. This will last at least through the end of 2024, if not longer.

3) If you're unable to help in this way, please share this campaign so that it can reach anyone and everyone who is willing to help her in her physical and financial recovery.

4) REALTORS and Design Clients - keep hiring her! She can work on Sundays or other days virtually.
