Hello my name is Sydeny Merriman I am putting together this gofundme for my dad Ronald Merriman. He went into the hospital Sunday June 29th, he was admitted into the hospital St Mary’s in Jefferson City mo and then transferred to Boone hospital in Columbia mo. He has very bad emphysema and air pockets all over his lungs so it was hard for him to breathe they put a tube in his lungs to try to inflate them, but that was not working due to the air pockets. It got stuck in an air pocket he has sepsis, rhinovirus, pneumonia he was very low on his vitamins as well he was dramatically going downhill completely unresponsive, they were even talking about end of life care at one point but as of yesterday things started looking up he woke back up has been responsive and his labs are looking better and he is breathing better but he is still on sedation and high oxygen to help slow down his breathing. We were told it’s gonna be a long road ahead of him, but he is also no longer able to work the doctors was honestly surprised he was still working in his condition. It’s time for him to rest, and when he gets better, not have to worry about getting things paid off until he is able to apply for his retirement his whole life since he started his career being a CNA he has been taking care of people he worked at the state hospital for 14 years has been in healthcare for about 28 years he also worked at Riverview nursing home, Fulton Manor, Jefferson City, Manor, and his very last workplace was kingdom care nursing home in Fulton Missouri he is 61 about to be 62 and wanted to wait to retire until he was 65 but is no longer able to do that when he gets out of the hospital it’s going to be a very long road ahead of him and I don’t want him to have to worry about how things are gonna be taken care of. I want him to focus on getting better. I thought I was gonna lose my dad and this has been the scariest experience I’ve ever had to go through and I’m so grateful that he is being strong and pulling through and on top of everything, he also has no medical insurance so his medical bills are going to be very high with that all being said my dad has enjoyed taking care of people for the last 28 years. It was a passion of his and anything helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to even read about his story.
