My name is Robert Maurice Redmon, and I am a veteran ,reaching out for help after a traumatic and life-changing event. I’m a veteran and I was trying to remove someone from my home and called the police for help. When I raised my garage door to meet the officers, I was shot by a police officer without warning. Although I did have my gun on me, it was not aimed at anyone—not even the man I was trying to remove. The officer failed to announce himself or ask me to put my gun down before firing. Now, the officer is on paid administrative leave, and the media has portrayed me in a way that does not reflect who I truly am. I want to share my real story with you.
The bullet went through my arm, causing severe nerve damage. I have lost all feeling in my hand and cannot move my fingers. My doctor has told me that recovery could take anywhere from a year or more, and the road ahead is uncertain. This injury has completely changed my daily life. I am unable to work, which means I can't provide for my children or help my wife with our bills. Even simple tasks like showering have become a struggle, and I need physical therapy to have any hope of regaining use of my hand. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the therapy or the basic necessities my family needs right now. The financial strain is overwhelming, and I am doing everything I can to stay strong for my loved ones.
I am asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Any help you can give—whether it's a donation or simply sharing my story—will make a huge difference for me and my family. Thank you for supporting us as we work toward healing and hope.
