Funeral Fund for Ricki

Donation protected
We appreciate everyone’s love and support. Continued support would be graciously accepted as we help prepare for her Funeral.

On October 21, 2023 at 3:15 am we said goodbye to our sweet Ricki. She has returned to our Heavenly Father.  Funeral arrangements will be announced in the near future. Please be respectful of the family as we try to navigate this difficult time.
Update 10/20 5:37pm
Rickis blood pressure was not responding to the medication through the night. We found out ricki has a leaky valve on the right side of her heart. At 9:45 am today they went to do surgery to see if some of the infection was missed. Surgery was significantly longer then the first one. (4 hours)At 1:45 we were given the update that she was out of surgery.
The infection has moved up her arm and deeper into the tissue. They removed all the tissue from her elbow down -she is down to bones tendons and muscle.
The infection also moved up to the socket area of the arm and the doctors are not certain that it hasn’t gone further.
We have to wait and see how her body responds and if the infection has spread more. They are gaging this by seeing if her numbers start to improve. It is definitely touch and go. Hour by hour.
She is coherent and such a fighter. She blinks 3 times saying I love you over and over and over.
Blink blink blink ricki! We love you and you have an army behind you.

Update 10/20 7:16am
Without going into super details Ricki has had a rough night. Please send prayers, fasting, what ever you believe in.
UPDATE OCTOBER 19 10:32pm
Ricki has made it through surgery WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND PRAYERS.
The Dr. is pretty sure he has been able to get all of the infection.
Unfortunately he had to take all of her thumb and debried a lot of the skin on her hand and arm.
She is not out of the woods yet and her life is still in danger the infection is still in her bloodstream.  The dr said she likely will stay in the icu for a week at a minimum at u of u.
Right now we wait make sure her symptoms don’t get any worse. If they do get worse she will have to go back to surgery and see if there was some of the infection that was missed. And redo debreidment.
In the further future she will need some sort of reconstructive surgery and or plastic surgery. But that will be discussed later.
That’s all for this update.

On October 18, 2023 Ricki started having severe thumb pain. She spent most of the night throwing up and with gi issues.
October 19 in the early morning hours she realized her hand had become twice the size and her thumb was turning purple.
She went to the ER at portneuf medical center and was given a central line with the highest “atomic bomb” of antibiotics they could give her.
Despite their efforts this infection continued to grow and rapidly progress up her arm.
The hand specialist believes she has a flesh eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis.
This disease is so severe it at a minimum will require debrievement/degloving  of her arm and or amputation.
She has been life flighted to the University of Utah and is currently under surgery as I make this post.
Ricki also suffers from lupus among other things which affects her ability to have a normal functioning immune system.
This likely means extensive recovery.
Before surgery her the doctors explained this infection was in her blood stream and she was in septic shock. They said when dealing with this flesh eating disease it usually comes down to losing a limb or losing your life.
This undoubtedly will include astronomical medical bills. Please donate if you can. We And if not please share this page. We are forever grateful for all of the support. I will continue to update as the situation progresses.
