Hello, my name is Raychel Smallwood. Many of you know my story & my struggles with addiction. Well, ever since January 2022, it has been really bad. My dad passed away & I went off the deep end. Now, I'm not using my dad's death as an excuse to make the choices I did. I just didn't know how to handle it or even let myself process it. My dad was my best friend, my hero, my protector, my teacher, my rock & I have felt so lost without him. So, since that moment until October 2nd, 2024, I had been suppressing & numbing what I ultimately needed to face/accept. Not many know this, but it came to the point my car was permanently broken down and I was sleeping on sidewalks. Now, I didn't tell you all these things to make you feel sorry for me; I did so you can envision what I was coming from and how hard I'm fighting for my life.

Beginning of October, I decided to leave Oklahoma & come to California for treatment. I got on a Greyhound with my dog Rambo on October 1st, arrived the 2nd & started at detox right away. I was nervous, scared & excited all at once. I knew this was a chance to start fresh, learn things about myself so I can make better choices instead of turning to drugs & ultimately make a better life for Rambo & me. We all know that boy deserves the best life a dog could have; he has literally been through hell & back with me.

Anyway, I'm still here in California. I am 53 days clean/sober & counting. I am serious about my sobriety because I refuse to let what ultimately killed my dad slowly kill me too. I am setting up this GoFundMe to help out with expenses like: hygiene products, dog food, bus fair, food for myself, ect; while I look for a job & start the process of going back to school. I want to go back to school to get my medical coding certification. I feel like would be a use of my abilities & the doors God is opening for me. i want to take every chance God has given to live my life right & fully surrended whatever His will may be. I consider myself blessed to have 2 heavenly fathers now & I'm trying to find comfort in the fact God has my dad; who is now at peace & not fighting the battles of this world anymore. I am grateful everyday for this 2nd chance God has given me & I hope can show the people that I know genuinely love me the same thing. I know everyone won't be able to help money wise but everyone can share. I am blessed beyond all measure, excited for the journey ahead of me & I honestly can't wait to share it with you guys. Even if you can't give money, the share, your prayers, positive vibes & love sent this way are all appreciated. I love you guys! Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my story.
