Harsha and Rashmitha were filled with Love and laughter. Living in New Jersey, they had built a beautiful, happy life, the kind of life they had always dreamed of with their two young children.

A Nightmare No One Saw Coming

Sterile white walls of an oncology ward have replaced the life they knew. Rashmitha is now fighting Blood Cancer (AML leukemia). She has endured pain through chemotherapy, but still, cancer has proven stubborn. Chemotherapy is no longer enough. Doctors have been clear: Rashmitha’s only chance at survival is an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant.

"Papa, when is Mama coming home to play?"

Every night, Harsha faces this question from his 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. Every night, he has to hide his tears while holding his 1-year-old baby, who cries for a mother. Even too weak to lift him.

While Rashmitha fights the physical battle in a hospital bed, her husband, Harsha, is fighting a battle on every other front. Amid this medical nightmare, Harsha lost his job in this uncertain world. He has gone from being a provider to a full-time caregiver, a temporary "mother" to their two toddlers, and a bedside nurse to his wife. He spends his days managing PICC lines, Hickman catheter and medications, and his nights rocking a crying baby to sleep.

My name is Raghu. I am writing this with a heavy heart for my sister, Rashmitha, and her young family in New Jersey. I cannot sit by and watch my sister fighting for life and Harsha crumble under the weight of unemployment and mounting hospital costs.
