Rafael is a bright and determined student . He arrived in the United States from El Salvador in January 2023, seeking a better future. Now a senior in high school, Rafael is set to graduate in June 2026. He has worked hard to adapt to a new country and has become a valued member of the school community.
Recently, Rafael found himself in a heartbreaking situation. He was an innocent bystander, simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, when ICE agents were searching for someone else. They questioned Rafael about his immigration status, and because he had just turned 18 and was not a legal resident, he was detained. His family was devastated and immediately sought legal help, but unfortunately, they were scammed by someone posing as a lawyer who took their money and disappeared. Now, with time running out and a new, trustworthy lawyer found, the legal fees are much higher due to the urgency of Rafael's case. His court date has been extended to January 23nd, but the judge made it clear that without a lawyer, Rafael will face deportation.
We are reaching out to our community for support. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Rafael's legal fees, giving him a real chance to stay in the United States and finish his education. Rafael and his family are deeply grateful for any help you can provide. With your support, we hope to bring Rafael back home and see him walk across the stage at graduation in June.
