Help Pete Crable Recover from Gunshot Wound

On Thursday, January 16th, 2025 Pete Crable was in his van at the Colerain Walgreen's when a stray bullet from a high powered rifle went through the back of his van, through his seat and entered his back. Pete was picking up a prescription for a tooth ache when a shootout took place across the street. An innocent victim, Pete suddenly found himself fighting for his life. He left the van to get help and for fear of bleeding out after seeing the bullet hole in his back van door, feeling the pain and realizing he had been shot. Two woman came to his aid after entering Walgreens and applied pressure on his wound while he waited for about 20 minutes for the paramedics. Pete told the woman applying pressure to tell his wife Sandra, he loved her as he wasn't sure he would ever see her again at that point. Thankfully, Pete was transported to the University of Cincinnati Level I Trauma Center and the wonderful surgeons there were able to stop his bleeding and remove the bullet which was piercing his front side. He received several units of blood and the family was informed the bullet went through his liver, his gallbladder which had to be removed and a rib was cracked.

As of this writing, Pete is on his second week at UC Medical Center. His liver is still trying to recover and a tube has been inserted into his lung to drain fluid that has been giving him trouble breathing. He faces a long recovery period and the possibility of additional surgery to help repair his liver.
