Dear Community Members,

Battle Tested Kids is reaching out with an important call to support one of our Bay Area High School Girls Basketball Teams that has been invited to one of the most prestigious high school basketball events in the country: the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona this December. This is more than a tournament—it's a national stage, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent growing right here in Oakland.

They need your help to get there.

⚖️ Why This Matters: Closing the Gap in Girls’ Sports

While Title IX has opened doors for young women in athletics, the playing field is still far from level. Across the country, girls’ sports programs continue to receive less funding, fewer resources, and less visibility than their male counterparts.

As an organization We’re working to change that. But real, lasting change doesn’t come from one person. It comes from collective effort—a community that believes in fairness, opportunity, and the power of sport to change lives.

This isn’t just about sending a team to a tournament. It’s about:

-Investing in equity -Creating opportunities -And building a legacy of support and pride

Total Fundraising Goal: $50,000

Tournament Breakdowns

Nike TOC Goal: $30,000

To make this trip possible, BTK is aiming to raise $30,000 to cover:

Expenses

• Flights

• Hotel

• Meals

• Tournament Registration

The Fundraising timeline

• October 10th – Secure Tournament Registration Fee

• November 15th – Purchase Flights

• December 5th – Finalize Hotel and Food Costs

Additional Preseason Tournaments (2)

Goal: $20,000

To make these in state tournaments possible, BTK is aiming to raise $20,000 to cover:

Expenses

• Rental Vehicles/ Gas

• Hotel

• Meals

• Tournament Registration Fees

• November 30th – Hotel Rooms

• December 5th & December 15th – Tournament Registration Fees

• December 16th – Van Rentals/ Gas and Food Costs
