Help our island friends

Donation protected
Please help people who help the ocean.

I lead an international marine conservation team called Project Seahorse.  For 28 years, the people of Danajon Bank, a double barrier reef system in the central Philippines, have been my team’s great allies for marine conservation.  These fishing communities now urgently need support.

Typhoon Rai, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Odette, ripped through the Philippines from Dec 12, 2021 – Dec 22, 2021 devastating many communities.  One badly affected communities is the village of Handumon, on Jandayan Island in Northwest Bohol.  This island community is where Project Seahorse first started its conservation journey (where we helped set up our first marine protected area).   Many of our friends and colleagues have been affected.  We want to help them in any way we can and we are asking you to join us.

Most of the houses on Jandayan Island were damaged, many having their roofs blown off and personal possessions scattered.  In Handumon, the vitally important Day Care Center was destroyed, as was the community training center and the covered court of the village hall. The damage is devastating.

We need to raise money for roofs, solar powered lights, supplies for rebuilding, much needed medicine and more.

Every little bit helps and we thank you for your generosity.

With many thanks
Amanda and the Project Seahorse team
