Help Needed In Cidra, Puerto Rico

Donation protected
Created September 27th,  2017

A short week has come and gone and in particular the citizens of Puerto Rico are not only in the dark due to power outages, they are quickly realizing they are in the dark for humanitarian aid getting to them on a timely basis.

Without the ability to communicate with the outside world, bits and pieces of information are sent out or received and we are learning that our small communities are running short on food, water and medications needed for sustaining themselves.

The immediate aid efforts on the island are concentrated largely in the urban center of San Juan and furthermore there Is concern for the vulnerability of a dam that hinders 70,000 people and, it continues to rain.

At this stage we would like to call on friends and family to give what they can so we can get the money in the hands of trusted family members for meaningful and careful distribution.

Our community called Cidra received a direct hit in the eye of “Maria” and there was widespread devastation.  Unfortunately help is going to get there later than San Juan and the metropolitan areas. The elderly and young kids are at higher risk.

This is a humanitarian crisis that this part of the world has not seen for US citizens on such a wide scale and it is deteriorating rapidly.  There are only a few hospitals operating and plagues (like dengue mosquitoes) will rapidly spread risking lives and even more for the less fortunate.

We have family members planning to leave as soon as the airport in San Juan accepts flights.  The intended aid can be channeled to them to ensure it gets in their hands and they can make the line ups already formed for essential items for the community.

If you can find room for anything, $25, $40 or whatever you can spare please trust it will make its way directly in the hands of family and citizens from Cidra, PR.

As we get more news we can keep those vested appraised of this tragic situation.  Thank you all.
