Help my sister and her kids to evacuate out of Gaza
Donation protected
Dear Compassionate Souls,
My name is Taghreed, and I live in London, Ontario, Canada. I come to you today with a plea for help in a moment of unfathomable desperation: my sister, Ibtisam, her husband, Muath, and their four young children, Razan (2), Yasmine (4), Ali (7), and Yousef (8) are all trapped in Gaza, enduring ongoing war. I am hoping to raise enough money to help her family evacuate from Gaza to safety in Canada.
Life if Gaza is fraught with death, uncertainty, disease and famine. My sister's house was destroyed by bombs early on in the war and they have been sheltering in overcrowded conditions with extended family members. There are 25 people sharing one small apartment, 12 of which are children. Disease is spreading like wildfire in the overcrowded conditions, and her children have recently contracted hepatitis. Their access to necessities like food, clean drinking water, and medicine, is severely limited due to the lack of aid entering Gaza. The situation has taken a tremendous toll on the mental and physical health of my sister's family. Her four year old daughter, Yasmin, has been diagnosed with anemia due to malnutrition. My sister's children are also suffering from nightmares and acute anxiety due to the constant bombings and death all around them. The children are terrified of the sounds of fighter jets and quadcopters which roam around the sky above them.
Tragically, it is incredibly difficult for Gazans to try to leave Gaza. In order to leave, Gazans must pay 5000 USD per adult and 2500 USD per child to pass through to safety in Egypt. This amount of money is far more than most families can manage, especially because the cost of food and basic items has skyrocketed since the beginning of the war. I am humbly seeking your help in being able to raise $28,000 Canadian dollars, which will be used to pay the crossing fees for Egypt. It will cost the family $20,000 USD to cross through to Egypt, which converts to about $27,410 CAD. I have applied for visas for my sister and her family to join me in Canada through special family reunification measures. Any extra money raised will be put towards covering the costs of their flights to Canada.
Every passing day in Gaza brings the threat of death – whether from bombs, starvation, dehydration, or disease.
I am humbly asking for your support to help my sister and her family evacuate to a safe place where they can rebuild their lives free from the constant threat of violence and deprivation. Your donation, no matter how small, could be the difference between life and death for them.
Thank you for considering my plea and for extending your hand in solidarity and compassion. Together, we can bring hope and safety to a family an young children in desperate need of rescue.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Taghreed
