Hello, my name is Giselle. My mother and I are in dire need of help escaping from domestic abuse within our family. In just the past month, our world has spiraled out of control; we discovered that my father, a previous alcoholic who had only gotten sober back in 2016 due to being hospitalized for pancreatitis, is drinking again and has been for the last three years since we lost our old house and had to move in 2023.

My father's alcoholism has caused unimaginable strife and turmoil within my family. My mother has suffered so much mental, emotional, and even physical and sexual abuse from that man. She was formally diagnosed with PTSD back in October of last year, brought on by the abhorrent treatment she had to endure from my father.

He is currently in rehab treatment, giving us some limited time to figure out our next steps before he comes home and subjects us to his abuse all over again. My mother and I are not safe with him. We cannot guarantee he will ever be able to maintain sobriety, and he has harmed my mother, myself, and my brothers through his drunkenness. He has violated our trust and boundaries numerous times and has attempted to go into our rooms amid moments of drunken sleepwalking. He had done so successfully when I was a child, and I still suffer from the trauma of it.

My mother and I are searching for places we can go, but finding permanent and secure housing is very difficult at this moment in time. Both of us are unable to work, and without the money from my father's job, our only source of income is my mom's social security benefits for her disability. Our goal of this GoFundMe is to raise money for finding secure housing, as well as covering the expenses of living necessities like food, shelter, and accommodations for her and myself.

We also are limited in our options for housing due to not owning a car, and are searching for places that allow pets so we don't have to leave our dogs behind with him. (He has made it clear he hates my mom's dog and we're worried about leaving him in his care.) To make matters worse, my mom has been locked out of her joint checking account with my father and we cannot access any money.
