Help Michaela Crush Cancer

Upon awakening from a dream that her breast was being stabbed with a knife, and knowing the universe communicates to us in many ways, Michaela made a mammogram appointment “just in case.” Sadly, the diagnosis was breast cancer and she was told she’d be in line for the entire conventional regime of mastectomy, chemo and radiation. Her life was forever changed.
Hearing of anyone’s cancer diagnosis is distressing but this news deeply broke our hearts because Michaela has dedicated her whole life to others. First it was her daughter and family – anyone who knows her knows she was a kick-ass mum. As those demands waned, Michaela shifted her focus to her own healing and she discovered shamanism. Throughout that 20 year journey, she has touched many lives through coaching and teaching. Last fall she turned her attention to her parents in London, supporting them through her dad’s hospitalization and recovery all while receiving her awful diagnosis.
On April 24, 2019, Michaela had her mastectomy/breast reconstruction and is recovering well from that painful and traumatizing surgery. While the great news is the cancer had not yet progressed to her lymph nodes. The bad news is that the size and number of tumours was much larger than expected and her oncologists strongly advised 16 rounds of radiation to kill off the stray cancer cells in her body followed by five years of Letrozole (hormone treatment).
Michaela refuses to let that news get the best of her and is in great spirits, determined that cancer will not get the best of her. “I want this to be my first and last bout with cancer,” says Michaela. “I not only want to survive cancer, I want to thrive! I want to see my daughter have her first promotion and meet my future grandkids! I want to be there for my teaching and coaching communities. And I want to return to helping my sister in supporting our parents.” (Michaela’s dad has Stage IV colon cancer and her mum has Dementia.)
Since the surgery, Michaela’s income has dropped drastically as she’s not been able to work and do what she loves – sharing her gifts, teaching and supporting her communities. From the get-go, with her focus on thriving, Michaela has been learning about and implementing multiple complementary and alternative therapies specific to cancer. Unfortunately, the cost of these therapies up to this point has depleted the nest egg she’s saved for her future. While she is moving ahead with some newer therapies, others will need to wait until funds are raised. Time is of the essence and waiting for Michaela’s cancer to progress is not an option.
This is why we are raising funds for Michaela, our beloved friend, teacher, sister and mother. We want to support her in her fight to not only beat cancer’s ass, but to keep it from spreading to other areas in her body. Research has shown while mainstream treatments can “cure” one cancer, they can trigger the growth of other cancers because they compromise the immune system and other healthy cells. In speaking with patients undergoing traditional treatments, they told Michaela they were on their 3rd, 4th and even 5th cancer treatment. We are appealing to friends, her community and anyone else able to answer the call. We are deeply thankful for every dollar donated as it goes directly towards funding the protocol Michaela believes will go after and eradicate each and every stray cancer cell still left in her body (see below for further details and links). For donations of $500 or more and the immediate impact it would make, Michaela would like to gift one of her own original oil paintings as a personal thank you. The paintings will be selected “first come, first gifted.”
Whether or not you can donate financially, our hope is that you can donate your time by sharing Michaela’s story with others in your communities and circles via social media, email or word of mouth. We’ve learned from other campaigns (and our own lives!) that help comes from all sorts of wonderful and unexpected places. For your convenience we’ve included a template below for those who may find it helpful.
The Protocol
Since cancer requires a multi-pronged approach, Michaela is working with a multi-disciplinary team to support her – US based Care Oncology, her GP, naturopaths, as well as physical and psychological therapists. The following therapies and their approximate monthly costs is where your donations will go:
· Under the guidance of the Care Oncology, off-label drugs will be used which are not covered by OHIP or extended health coverage in Canada. This is beginning early October and will arrest and kill cancer and their stem cells.
· Supplements, Vitamin C treatments & Hyperbaric Chamber. Ongoing therapies to support and strengthen her immune system.
· 3 week stay at the much acclaimed Chipsa Clinic – The treatments at the clinic are not all available in Canada or the US and the cost is $34,000 USD, not including travel costs or supplementation upon return to Canada. This is an intensive program which combines immune support as well as other therapies to target the cancer. This will be booked as soon as possible.
We are coming together to support Michaela, a woman who has impacted countless lives, empowered many, warmed hearts and given hope when it could not be found. Our friend, teacher, sister, mother and daughter, is a truly inspiring, uplifting, kind and beautiful human being who has given so much of her time, love and energy to those around her - this world is a better place with her in it.
