Help Megan Rice Recover Her Life After a Severe Car Accident

On November 1st Megan Rice suffered a devastating accident when a speeding driver lost control of his vehicle on a sharp curve on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and drove into her lane, hitting her head on. Megan's car was totaled and she sustained 19 bone fractures - from her right femur and knee to her neck and spine. She was hospitalized at UCLA for a week where she had surgery to repair the severely damaged femur. Megan has since been transferred to a skilled nursing facility in Santa Monica where she is receiving excellent care and making great progress toward healing. We are so blessed that Megan survived the accident, yet she now faces a difficult recovery period. Currently confined between bed and a wheelchair and in significant pain, Megan’s lack of mobility means that she is unable to care for herself and has needed round the clock care; she will continue to need rehabilitation therapies and assistance for the coming months.

Unfortunately, the young driver of the car that slammed into Megan had no insurance or assets to cover any expenses. While Megan’s own insurance will cover the totaled car and the hospital expenses, it does not cover the necessary support of caretakers during her long road back to health.

As most of you know, Megan recently lost her beloved husband Gregory, and she had been living alone. Therefore, when she is able to leave the nursing facility, she will continue to need a great deal of caregiver assistance at home. Megan really needs our help to cover these expenses for in-home care so that she can concentrate her energy on recovering fully.

As an artist, teacher, friend and mother to Rabyn and Lael, Megan has touched a great many of us with her generosity of spirit, inspired us with her creative work, and blessed us with her unending kindnesses. She could use our support now in this difficult time, a reflection back to her of the love that she has shared with us.
