Hello my name is Celina Kitsul and on August 21st at approximately 7:15 PM, my 10-year-old little brother, my 7-year-old sister and my dad were at Ben Lee Skate Park in Kelowna. While my dad was talking to my sister near my brother, a teenage boy approached him and asked to use his bike. He said no, but the teen grabbed the bike right out of his hands and rode away. By the time my dad turned around, the bike was gone.

My little brother has such a good heart. He is kind, trusting and always wants to believe the best in people. Sometimes he can be a little too trusting and naive, and unfortunately, he learned a really difficult lesson that night. No child should have to learn that lesson this way.

He is absolutely devastated. His bike is one of his favorite things, and riding bikes together is one of the things our family loves doing. It’s not just a bike to him. It gives him freedom, gets us outside and creates memories with our dad.

My dad is a single father and works hard to provide for us and give us the best life he can. I know how much he does for our family, and I know how hard it is for him to see my little brother hurting over something he worked hard to provide for him.

What happened has also been really upsetting because we were simply out enjoying time together as a family. Having something taken from you like that is an awful feeling, especially when it happens to a child who was just trying to enjoy his evening.

I’m starting this GoFundMe because I would love to help my dad replace my little brother’s bike and hopefully put a smile back on his face. I know everyone has their own challenges, so if you’re able to donate, our family would be incredibly grateful. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to us.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping our family turn a really heartbreaking experience into something positive. ❤️
