Hola, mi nombre es Miguel Antonio Gómez Brito trabajador activo permanente de PDVSA - Petroceño, soy el hijo del profesor jubilado de la Universidad de Oriente Nucleó Bolívar (UDO) - Venezuela Miguel Gómez Herrera con edad 67 años. Inició sus servicios en febrero del año 1995 hasta el año 2019. Durante sus 24 años de servicio se dedicó con gran pasión a la formación de nuevos profesionales en el área de Geología e Ingeniería geológica de igual forma contribuyó a la formación cultural de músicos como director de la estudiantina de la APUDO (Asociación de Profesores de la Universidad de Oriente).
En Junio del año 2008 mi Padre sufrió un accidente en su ojo izquierdo el cual fue diagnosticado con un desprendimiento de retina, en ese momento la empresa PDVSA me brindaba un Seguro el cual me permitió cubrir la intervención quirúrgica de mi padre para corregir el desprendimiento de retina sufrido. Una vez realizada la intervención en el primer control se nos informó que a los 6 meses mi padre debía ser intervenido nuevamente para realizarle la extracción de un aceite de silicón intraocular, sin embargo para el momento en que se cumplieron los 6 meses el seguro médico no pudo respaldarme ya que por falta de pago el convenio con todas las clínicas a nivel nacional fue suspendido. Hoy en día todos los trabajadores petroleros estamos sin seguro médico incluyendo a los familiares adscritos y nuestros salarios no están acorde con la actual inflación del país, razón por la cual se ha hecho imposible realizarle el procedimiento quirúrgico para la extracción del silicón intraocular.
Durante todo este tiempo acudí a todas las instancias posibles para gestionar la cirugía de mi padre y conseguir los recursos económicos pero no obtuve respuesta alguna. Por esta razón me veo en la necesidad de acudir a toda la comunidad profesional, ex alumnos, amigos, familiares y toda aquella persona de buen corazón que nos pueda ayudar a la recaudación de fondos para cubrir la cirugía.
Estaré muy agradecido con todas las personas que se sumen a esta campaña y me ayuden a compartir la misma. Que Dios los bendiga.

My father is Miguel Gómez Herrera, a retired professor from the Universidad de Oriente (UDO) who is 67 years-old. He began his services in February of 1995 until 2019. During his 24 years of service, he dedicated himself with great passion to the training of new professionals in the area of Geology and Geological Engineering. He also contributed to the cultural training of musicians as a director of the student of the APUDO (Association of Professors of the University of the East).
In June of 2018, my father suffered an accident in his left eye which led him to sustain a retinal detachment, at that time the PDVSA company gave me an insurance which allowed me to cover my father's surgical intervention to correct the detachment. Once the intervention was carried out, we were informed that 6 months later my father had to be intervened again to perform the extraction of an intraocular silicone oil. However, by the time the 6 months passed, the medical insurance was no longer able to support me because their contracts with all clinics nationwide had been suspended. Today, all oil workers and their families are without medical insurance, and our salaries are not in line with the current inflation in the country, which is why it has become impossible to perform the surgical procedure for the extraction of intraocular silicone. During all this time I went to all possible instances to manage my father's surgery and get the financial resources but I did not get any response. For this reason, I find it necessary to go to the entire professional community, students, friends, family and all those with a good heart that can help us raise funds to cover the surgery.
