Help Marty pay for lifesaving cancer treatments
Donation protected
Hello Everyone. This is Marty Imwalle, he is a retired police Sergeant from North Texas. He was misdiagnosed for several years and we recently found that he has stage 4 prostate cancer that has, unfortunately, spread to all his bones and a large tumor behind his left eye. On top of this he also has diabetes which is proving challenging for his treatments.
This man worked over 26 years as a police officer serving his community and then even more years as a police academy instructor and then a referee/umpire for local youth teams. I met him as a new recruit at the police academy. We formed a great bond and he has been a true friend and mentor of mine for many years. He lives alone with no family here, other than his dogs, and I am doing the best I can to take care of him but it has been a huge struggle to fulfill all the financial needs. His main concern , despite his critical health concerns, is where his 3 dogs (Thor, Candy, and Fergie) will go when the time comes. I have assured him we will make sure they are taken care of.
He is starting radiation treatment this week to shrink the tumor behind his eye. Due to the pressure it has put on the optical nerve he has lost sight in the eye and we hope he will at least be able to see again once the tumor shrinks. He needs so much more as he can not drive himself or even prepare his own meals and is on a small fixed income. Marty worries constantly that he is taking too much of our time and resources. We don't want him to have to worry like this but the truth is we have already tapped into what little we have to take care of his needs and we desperately need help.
I never thought, 13 years ago that my wife and I would be Marty’s only "family", but I feel blessed that he trusts us to be here for him. I feel confident we have him with the right medical team and we have a plan, but we still have a long road ahead of us. He needs so much care and we both work full time.
Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps and your prayers are very much needed and appreciated. If you can't help financially, please share his message or contact us for a donation of your time. We need more boots on the ground to lift up this amazing man. It is time to truly Back The Blue.
