Help Maria live her best on borrowed time

Our Story with Maria
We’ve known Maria since 2008. We’ve watched her go from a one-woman cleaning service to a full blown business with two crews and branded cars. Her business and reputation are stellar because of the kind of person she is. She is one of the most trustworthy, professional, and ethical business people I know! She and her husband, Alfredo, have watched us get married and have kids. I have watched her daughters grow up, get married, and have kids of their own. They are like family to us.

Maria’s Story
The will to live is a force within all of us to fight for survival when our lives are threatened by a disease such as cancer.

Maria has been fighting renal cell cancer for the past few years. The first time she was diagnosed, she was able to beat it. Unfortunately, the cancer came back and this time, it was stronger. She was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 renal cell cancer. Her prognosis was dire. After meeting with several doctors, she was given no hope for treatment and only three months to live. This wasn’t good enough for Maria. She knew she could do better.

She and her family went to Mexico after a family member, who is a Urologist / Oncologist, reached out and offered to take a look at Maria’s diagnosis. This family member’s determination and knowledge helped her create a unique treatment option for Maria. When she began showing some improvement, the family took her scans to Houston and were able to find a doctor to treat her and get insurance to cover some of the cost.

It’s been eight months since the cancer came back. Maria knows she’s on borrowed time, and she’s trying to live her life as much as she can. She continues to fight every day for more time.

Alfredo, a true partner to Maria
Maria’s story can’t be told without mentioning Alfredo, who has been her cheerleader and supporter. I don’t think you can find a man who loves his wife as much as Alfredo loves Maria. Because her cleaning business is her dream, Alfredo pretty much closed up his painting and construction business to support her and keep her business going since her initial cancer diagnosis. We’ve shared hugs, stories, and tears with this man.

How can you help?
Many of you have known Maria for almost as many years as us. And if you haven’t, please know that she is the sweetest person in the world and goes above and beyond for her clients. It pains us to watch her and her family go through this. No one knows how much more time she has left on this earth, so we are raising money to help her live her best life with her family on borrowed time.

How will the donation be used?
We know our little goal won’t help offset the cost of treatment, but if we can raise enough to help her, Alfredo, and maybe even her daughters and grandchildren have one last family trip together, I know it would mean the world to her.

Please consider donating. Every little bit counts.
