Help A Single Mother During Her Last Days
Donation protected
I am a 36 year old single mother of an amazing 9 year old. Five years ago I was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma, an extremely rare form of cancer. I went through surgery and radiation treatment and remained in remission until this past Spring when I became extremely sick. Through numerous specialist referrals and a mountain of testing that took 3 months I was told the Ocular Melanoma had metastasized to my liver, right lung, and various subcutaneous tumors were found in different locations on my body.
I was referred to a specialist in Melanoma at Yale Smilow Cancer Hospital. I was given a 20% chance that the immunotherapy would work on my cancer and 3 months life expectancy. This was 2 months ago. I have developed severe colitis as a side effect of the treatment and have had to stop the life saving immunotherapy until we can get it under control. I have attempted to go back to work part time after being on medical leave for 2 months due to financial reasons, but because of the recent complications the cancer has started to spread again and I'm finding it difficult to work even minimal hours.
I have just found out that I can't continue the immunotherapy treatment because it is too harsh on my body. The cancer is a very aggressive type and it is spreading rapidly. I have weeks left. I am being put on hospice and need help with the expenses of my final days and arrangements for once I pass.
