It is with profound sadness that we share the story of Laura Daniela Cuchimba Parracín, a 28 year old young woman whose passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laura was pure light, she was kindness, sweetness, and an unmistakable warmth, she was the friend who always arrived with a genuine smile, the one who listened with patience, the one who helped long before anyone had to ask. Her joy was natural, and her unique spark brightened every space she walked into.

Laura was born in Colombia, where she graduated as an Environmental Engineer in Neiva, Huila. Five years ago, she migrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and worked tirelessly toward the dreams she was building with so much dedication. Despite the distance, she remained deeply connected to her family. She adored her parents, and her brother was truly her best friend. This year, they had not yet been able to reunite, and Laura was filled with excitement at the thought of seeing them again soon.

But on November 13, on a cold, rainy, and gray day, the unimaginable happened, while driving, her car lost control due to black ice, spun, and ended up in the opposite lane, where it was struck by another vehicle, Laura suffered extremely severe injuries and was rushed to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. Doctors did everything humanly possible, they placed her in a medically induced coma, hoping to give her body time to heal. Meanwhile, her parents traveled from Colombia with their hearts in pieces but holding onto hope, praying to see their daughter open her eyes.

But the outcome was devastating, despite every effort, doctors diagnosed brain death. A moment that shattered her family and everyone who loved her, in the midst of unbearable pain, her parents made a brave and compassionate decision: to donate Laura’s organs so that others could live. That was exactly who Laura was someone who helped without hesitation, who gave without expecting anything in return, who spread light even in silence. Her essence continues to shine through the lives she saved.

Today, her parents face not only unimaginable grief but also overwhelming financial burdens. They must cover medical bills, lodging, food, and most importantly, the transportation of Laura back to Colombia, so her family and loved ones can honor her and say their final goodbye in her homeland.

The total cost is $14,000.

This money will be given to Angela Ortiz, Laura Daniela Cuchimba Parracin's aunt, who will be the beneficiary to give this money to Laura's parents and be able to carry out the repatriation.

Con profunda tristeza compartimos la historia de Laura Daniela Cuchimba Parracín, una joven de 28 años cuya partida ha dejado un vacío inmenso en todos los que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerla. Laura era luz en su forma más pura, era dulzura, bondad, nobleza, era la amiga que llegaba con una sonrisa sincera, la que te escuchaba sin prisa, la que ayudaba antes de que uno pidiera ayuda. Tenía una alegría natural y una chispa única que hacía más bonito cualquier lugar al que llegara.

Nació en Colombia, donde se graduó como ingeniera ambiental en Neiva, Huila. Hace cinco años migró a Estados Unidos buscando nuevas oportunidades y trabajando por los sueños que con tanta dedicación construía. A pesar de la distancia, seguía profundamente unida a su familia. Laura amaba a sus padres, a su hermano, su mejor amigo y vivía con ilusión cada oportunidad de reencontrarse con ellos.

Este año aún no habían logrado reunirse, y Laura estaba llena de emoción por verlos pronto, pero el 13 de noviembre, un día frío, lluvioso y gris, ocurrió lo impensable. Mientras conducía, su carro perdió el control debido al black ice, giró inesperadamente y quedó en el carril contrario, donde fue impactado por otro vehículo, sufrió heridas extremadamente graves y fue trasladada de emergencia al Albany Medical Center, en Nueva York.

Los médicos hicieron todo lo humanamente posible. La indujeron a coma esperando darle a su cuerpo una oportunidad de recuperarse. Mientras tanto, sus padres viajaban desde Colombia con el corazón en la mano, aferrados a la esperanza de verla abrir los ojos, pero la realidad fue devastadora. A pesar de todos los esfuerzos, los médicos diagnosticaron muerte cerebral, una noticia que quebró a su familia y a todos quienes la amaban.

En medio del dolor más profundo, sus padres tomaron una decisión llena de humanidad: permitir que los órganos de Laura fueran donados para dar vida a otros. Porque esa era Laura: una joven que ayudaba sin medida, que daba sin pedir nada a cambio, que iluminaba incluso en silencio. Su esencia sigue viva en quienes ahora tienen una nueva oportunidad gracias a ella.

Hoy, sus padres enfrentan no solo un duelo inimaginable, sino también una carga económica abrumadora. Necesitan cubrir gastos médicos, estadía, alimentación y, lo más importante, el traslado de Laura a Colombia, donde su familia y seres queridos puedan despedirla como merece.

El costo total asciende a 14 mil dólares.

Este dinero se le entregara a Angela Ortiz, la tía de Laura Daniela Cuchimba Parracin, quien será la beneficiaria para entregarles este dinero los padres de Laura y poder realizar la repatriación.
