Help Support Our Hero John Ivers After a Life-Changing Spinal Cord Injury
Our family’s world turned upside down when my stepdad, John Ivers, suffered a devastating fall that left him with a spinal cord injury. What we thought would be a difficult recovery quickly became a battle for his life.
While in the hospital, he faced one life-threatening setback after another — a perforated intestine, acute kidney injury, fluid on and in his lungs, and sepsis. For nearly two months, he fought through unbearable pain, countless procedures, and moments when the doctors weren’t sure he’d make it. But he’s a fighter — a true Vietnam-era Army veteran — and he has defied every odd to still be here with us today.
Now, after months in the hospital, he’s finally in rehab, working every single day to regain strength and movement. His mobility will be severely limited, but his spirit remains strong. He’s determined to keep fighting for every bit of independence he can.
My mom has been by his side through it all — sleeping in hospital chairs, learning how to help him with his daily needs, and preparing to become his full-time caregiver when he comes home. Neither of them are able to work right now, and the financial strain has become overwhelming.
We are asking for help to support John Iver’s recovery and to make their home safe and accessible for him. Funds will go toward:
• Home modifications for accessibility (bathroom adjustments, mobility equipment)
• Medical and rehabilitation expenses not covered by insurance
• Everyday living costs as they adjust to this new reality
He has already given so much — to his country, to his family, and to everyone who knows him. Now, we’re asking for a little help to give back to him in his time of need.
Every donation, share, or prayer means more than words can express. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for helping us support our hero on his road to recovery. ❤️
