Help Janet & Richard Through This Difficult Time

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Richard Gobbels Jr. and for the past 20 months, my mother, Janet, has been battling a debilitating and undiagnosed illness that has left her weak, unable to move without assistance, and in need of constant care. Despite seeing multiple doctors and making repeated trips to the ER and hospital—six times in total—there have been no clear answers or solutions.

Most recently, she has been in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation facilities for weeks:

15 days at Andalusia Hospital

8 days at Opp Rehabilitation

8 more days back at the hospital

Another 15 days at Opp Rehabilitation

Now, as of this week, her health insurance will no longer cover her stay at Opp Rehabilitation, even though she still needs care. She will be coming home with only limited in-home nursing care a few times a week.

Throughout all of this, my father, Richard, has been her full-time caregiver. He had to stop working to care for her 24/7, as she needs assistance with almost everything. The financial strain of medical expenses, constant travel to hospitals and doctors, medications, and everyday bills have become overwhelming. They are struggling to make ends meet.

My parents are two of the most selfless, loving, and generous people you could ever meet. They have always been there for others in times of need, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. Now, they need our help.
