My name is Rachelle, and I am raising funds for my dear 62-year-old friend, Jan, who is facing losing the only home she has left—her camper trailer. She is a kind, hardworking Christian woman with health issues, and she is in urgent need of a safe, affordable place to keep her trailer so she does not become completely unhoused.
JAN'S URGENT SITUATION:
Jan is currently living in her camper trailer on a church parking lot, along with a few other homeless neighbors who also live in trailers on the property. Recently, the church was told that if the trailers are not moved by the end of January, the city will begin charging the church $30,000 every day the trailers remain there, which means Jan must move her trailer very soon.
JAN HAS BEEN SEARCHING FOR:
- A small piece of land with trailer hookups where she can safely park and pay a modest rent, or
- An affordable trailer park close enough to her job.
So far, she has not been able to find either. The trailer parks she has contacted are either too expensive for her limited income or too far away from her part-time job.
Jan does not have a vehicle, so she relies on co-workers and buses to get to and from work, which makes it essential for her to stay close to her job. Without help, she risks losing her job or her home—or both.
WHO JAN IS:
Jan is so much more than her current situation.
- She is a Christian woman who loves Jesus and prays for others even while she is struggling herself.
- She loves animals, especially dogs, and her all-time favorite animal is the elephant.
- She is almost fluent in American Sign Language and cares deeply about communication and inclusion.
- She loves drama and used to be part of a Christian drama company that traveled the world.
- She has also been involved in the Renaissance fair and loves bringing stories and characters to life.
- Her favorite food is bacon, and despite everything, she still finds ways to laugh and encourage others.
Jan has spent her life giving to others, serving, and creating joy. Now she urgently needs others to come alongside her.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED:
Every donation will go directly toward helping Jan stay safely housed and meet her basic needs.
FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR:
- Safe place to put the trailer
- Help cover costs to move and set up her trailer on safe, legal land that does not cost much and has basic hookups (water, electricity, sewage).
- Trailer park or land deposit
- Help with the deposit required by a trailer park or landowner willing to let her park her trailer.
- First 6 months of rent
- Help pay the first six months of space rent if she moves to a trailer park or similar location, so she can stabilize without constant fear of losing her home again.
- Food and necessities
- Help with money for food, hygiene items, and other everyday necessities while she gets back on her feet.
If more is raised than needed for deposits and initial rent, any extra funds will go toward ongoing rent, utilities related to the trailer, and basic living needs to keep Jan safely housed.
