Help Jamie on Her Road to Recovery ❤️

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing this on behalf of my sister, Jamie Lavrey.

About three weeks ago, Jamie was admitted to the hospital after her foot suddenly turned blue. After several tests, doctors discovered multiple blood clots throughout her leg and foot. They immediately began medication to help relieve her excruciating pain and dissolve the clots, and she underwent two surgeries in an effort to restore blood flow.

Despite these efforts, the doctors determined that the safest and best course of action was to amputate her left leg below the knee. As you can imagine, this was devastating news—but after talking with her care team and understanding the risks, Jamie made the incredibly brave decision to move forward with the procedure.

It’s now been just over two weeks since her surgery, and she’s been nothing short of amazing. After spending a week recovering in the hospital, she was transferred to the rehab facility at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, where she’s working hard every day to regain her strength and independence.

While Jamie’s recovery—both physically and mentally—has been inspiring, the financial challenges are significant. Hospital bills and home expenses are piling up, and unfortunately, she doesn’t have insurance. As a small business owner, she also doesn’t qualify for Medicaid. Jamie will be out of work until at least December (though if you know her, you know she’d be back tomorrow if she could!).

We’ve managed to get a ramp installed at her home, but she’ll need additional support in the coming months—especially for a prosthetic leg and ongoing rehabilitation costs.

Jamie has always been the kind of person who puts others first—she’s selfless, giving, and would do anything to help anyone in need. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her the way she’s always shown up for others.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference and help Jamie focus on what matters most: healing and getting back to doing what she loves.
