Help Jackson Mooney’s brave fight against rare cancer
Donation protected
Our sweet, fun-loving 6-year-old, Jackson, has a heart full of love and a mind packed with interesting dinosaur facts you never knew you needed to hear. Just two days before starting 1st grade, our world was turned upside down. Jack underwent surgery at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Portland to remove a mass from his left hand. Days later, we received devastating news: our precious boy has been diagnosed with Epithelioid Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that affects only about 150 people in the U.S. each year—rarely seen in children as young as Jack.
This cancer has a high chance of recurrence and can spread to his lungs and lymphatic system. Jack’s battle is just beginning. He needs ongoing, lifelong care from an Oncologist, with a barrage of MRI, CT, and PET scans to check for any metastasis or other malignancies. On top of that, we were given more crushing news—Jack will require a follow-up surgery to amputate his thumb on October 10th to ensure all the initial cancerous tissue is removed. He has a good overall outcome but will need to be continuously monitored to watch for reoccurrence and to ensure there aren’t any metastasis.
Our hearts are broken. No parent can ever prepare for something like this. Jack is facing a fight no child should ever have to endure. Despite the overwhelming tests, hospital visits, and discomfort, he continues to smile and show his brave, feisty spirit. But we know his life is about to change forever.
We are doing everything we can to be there for him. But the harsh reality is that we will need to take time away from work to support Jack through his testing, surgery, rehabilitation, and any treatments he may need. The financial strain is quickly becoming overwhelming, and that’s why we’re turning to you—our friends, family, and community.
We need your help. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Jack’s medical expenses, rehabilitation, travel to and from the hospital, and everyday costs that will allow us to stay by his side during this fight. If you can’t donate, sharing Jack’s story can make a huge difference.
Our family is eternally grateful for any support—whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or keeping Jack in your thoughts and prayers. Please help us give Jack the chance to grow up healthy, strong, and cancer-free.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
The Mooney Family
