Help Honey Walk Again: Support His Surgery

Hi everyone,

My name is Sorenny Tapia and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my sweet dog, Honey. He’s a 7-year-old toy poodle who brings joy to everyone he meets. Honey loves going on walks, jumping around when he’s excited, and greeting every single person who walks through our door.

About 2 weeks ago, he suddenly stopped using his back right leg, cried when I picked him up, and couldn’t stand without falling. We rushed him to the emergency vet and to Guardian veterinary specialists where we spent hundreds of dollars only to be told by both places that he has a condition called luxating patella — his kneecap has dislocated and no longer aligns with the rest of his leg. They recommended giving him 1 more week to see if there was any improvement with rest and medication.

Unfortunately, Honey has only gotten worse. He now won’t put his foot down at all and no longer gets up to greet us — something he’s always done with so much energy and love.

The vet made it clear that surgery is the only solution, and the estimated cost is between $6,000 and $10,000. This is far more than we can afford. I recently graduated from college and am already facing student loan payments, making this situation even more difficult. The surgery needs to happen soon ideally within the next month. I know this is short notice, but this situation hit us unexpectedly less than three weeks ago.
