Onto the Next Goal

 Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

Our summer trip together was nothing short of amazing. The entire purpose of these visits is to create lasting memories, and with our time together being so limited, we made every moment count. I’m deeply grateful. I couldn’t have done it without your incredible support.

But the journey doesn’t end here. I’m continuing this GoFundMe campaign with new goals in mind, and I will keep it running until my children are able to live with me here in the U.S. My daughter is set to move here next year, but my son’s situation remains incredibly difficult. He has clearly expressed that he wants to live with me after graduating 6th grade next spring, but convincing his father has been impossible. Sadly, Japan’s custody laws after divorce allow only one parent full custody, with no joint custody option. Upcoming changes in 2026 will not apply to international divorces like mine, news that has been heartbreaking for us. Some days, the weight of it makes me want to scream, but I refuse to give up.

For those unfamiliar with my story: I divorced my Japanese husband in 2020. Since then, I’ve been navigating these challenging custody laws while doing everything in my power to stay connected with my children. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward travel costs, airfare, accommodations, and transportation for my next visit, which I hope will be as soon as possible.
