Hi, my name is Lisa, and I have recently taken on a 10-year-old rescued beagle named Hayley.

Hayley’s life has not been an easy one. She spent the first five years of her life at MBR Huntingdon, born into a breeding program within a testing laboratory. Her world was made up of cages, cold floors, and constant fear. Instead of toys, comfort, or affection, she knew only confinement and repeated use for research. Human hands were something to fear — not something that brought kindness or safety.

When Hayley was finally released from the lab, she experienced the outside world for the very first time. Grass beneath her paws. Fresh air. Gentle voices. Simple things that most dogs take for granted meant everything to a dog who had never known freedom.

For the past five years, Hayley lived in a loving home, but sadly her previous owner is no longer able to care for her. That is how she has come to be with me now, and I am determined to give her the comfort and dignity she has always deserved.

Rescue, however, is only the beginning.

Years of neglect and overbreeding have left Hayley with several medical needs. She is in desperate need of dental work, likely caused by years of chewing on cage bars in distress. She suffers from anxiety, a mass in her breast that needs removing, spaying and is not currently up to date on her vaccinations.

Every vet visit, every nourishing meal, and every soft blanket comes at a cost. Unfortunately, due to her age, Hayley is too old to insure. I want nothing more than to ensure that the rest of her life is lived pain-free, safe, and surrounded by love — something she was denied for far too long.
