Hello friends.
Proud mama here reaching out to ask if you can help get my 15 year old son Oliver to the LifeSaving World Championships being held on the Gold Coast in Australia at the end of August 2024.
He was selected from across Canada, to be part of the six youth men. The youngest member of Team Canada 2024. The team consists of six youth women, and Open men and female .
This is our second year with the sport of LifeSaving. One which many do know exist. The sport comprises of pool events that simulated rescue scenarios, test endurance, and strength along with beach events. LWC2024 https://www.lwc2024.com/program/#
It is such an honour to be selected to represent your country at a World Championship event. However, this is a self funded event. Not a professional event. As such, any support you are able to give, no matter what, will help ease that cost to get Oliver to Australia. The funds will help cover the flights, competition fees, the costs of equipment etc. I know, you're probably thinking, but swimmers don't wear very much...but let me tell you that for not wearing very much, it's pretty darned expensive...I was shocked too. Who knew! ♀️
Anyway, I could go on and on, but figure this either works for you, or not.
Oli has been featured in our local press, but he's not one to like his face out there too much. He continues to train under Head Coach Alexx Diep with the Cochrane Water Ninjas and under Regional Team coach Heather Barr. He works at our local pool and is saving hard. He loves what he does, he happens to be pretty darn good at it and I am very proud mama.
Should you want more photos, you can check out the Cochrane Eagle.
