Help Gary Overcome Epilepsy with Vital Surgery

My name is Gary Krepak. I am a life-long resident of the Shreveport/Bossier City Louisiana area.

I am raising funds to help me with medical and living expenses for a required major brain surgery to treat my life-long battle with epilepsy. I have been treated for epilepsy since 1982 and they have declared me Medically Intractable. Meaning that the only option they have not exhausted in treating my disease, is surgery.

That surgery is scheduled for June 9, 2025. I will be out of work for at least three months afterward.

Upon my former Employer learning about my upcoming medical leave for treatment. My experience began to change at my former workplace. I wouldn’t call it attrition but it was something very similar to it. Very small errors on my part were treated like major infractions. I was literally holding onto my employment for dear life because that is how I was able to have the health coverage needed to manage and treat my disability. 

Seven days before I was scheduled to have surgery they terminated my employment. Citing a documentation error on my part.

They told me repeatedly to reapply for my job after I have healed and can return to work. 

I came home that day and immediately began doing what I can to monetize social media content. But I am not an actual professional Content Creator and my little autobiographical videos aren’t going to make my ends meet. 

I need your help. 

I will have medical coverage but no employment or short term disability coverage from my former employer.

 I have a large, loving family and a large extended family of friends and colleagues. And they have all been incredibly supportive of me and my struggles over the years. I am a practicing Christian and member of River of Life Church in Winnsboro, Louisiana and Riverpark Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. I served on their Media team when called upon.

Despite my life-long disability I have worked in the Music, Film, Television, Event Production and Stage Production industry for most of my adult life. Stepping away only when my health no longer allowed me to reliably participate as I had before. The last year had been incredibly challenging to me and my family and the decision has been made to surgically treat what no amount of any medication has proven effective in doing.

my Sons, Alexander and Zachary as well as the rest of my family and closest friends are by my side to help me during this and to help me as needed during recovery. The Surgeon will remove the diseased portions of my left temporal lobe and a large section of my left hippocampus. There is an 80% chance that I will never experience another seizure nor require anticonvulsant medication ever again afterwards. There will, be an as-yet undetermined loss of short term and verbal memory as a result. We are praying for the best possible outcomes as far as side effects are concerned.

I plan on returning to work as much and as soon as my medical condition allows me to.
