Hi friends! It's Diana, the founder & owner of From Here to Sunday , a little gift shop & gallery located in Gowanus, Brooklyn that is currently in its seventh(!) year of operation.

Despite surviving the worst days of the pandemic, we find ourselves at a critical crossroads. The last few years have truly been an uphill battle, so now we are reaching out to you, our cherished community, in our time of need.

Since I started in 2016, I've personally funded From Here to Sunday, along with occasional help from generous friends and family. Our commitment to reinvesting almost everything back into the business has allowed us to grow, adapt, and bring a touch of magic to Gowanus.

But now, as inflation skyrockets and interest rates surge, the financial strain is beginning to feel insurmountable. The evolving landscape of Gowanus poses new obstacles, affecting the visibility and viability of small, micro businesses like ours. The pandemic dealt us a severe blow, forcing me to rely heavily on personal credit just to keep our doors open. Without reaching out for support, I’m afraid this burden could potentially be detrimental for continuing this journey.

Compounding our financial struggles are my own health setbacks, which have diminished my ability to personally invest the energy and labor the business requires. I feel so lucky to have such an incredible team of assistants, whose hard work is the backbone of our success, and I want to ensure that they continue to be rewarded for their efforts.

Asking for help has never been an easy task for me, and it’s something I approach with a mix of vulnerability and gratitude. But at the end of the day, we believe in the power of mutual aid and recognize that true strength lies in our ability to come together. This means that sometimes it comes in the form of receiving help from others and not just in sharing our resources.
