Help for Angelyna and her children
Angelyna is a hard working, single mother of three children (ages 14, 10 and 18 months) and one of my closest friends.
A few weeks ago, the engine on her car gave out suddenly, then on August 16th, 2018, as she was going to look for a new vehicle, an electrical short caused her home to catch fire. Her eldest daughter immediately got her two siblings out of the house and called 911. Even though action was taken immediately, the home they were staying in is no longer livable due to extensive smoke and water damage. The majority of their possessions were destroyed. Thankfully, due to fast and responsible actions, everyone is safe and unharmed.
However, Angelyna and her three children are now without a home. Since the fire, Angelyna has spent every day making phone calls and taking long bus rides with her toddler to find every possible source of potential help. Every time we thought we found a lead, the door seems to be slammed shut. Without any other options, Angelyna and her children had to move into a homeless shelter. We were hopeful the shelter would be able to help Angelyna access other resources in the city, but again we hit a roadblock. Angelyna does not meet requirements for permanent housing assistance. The shelter can only provide assistance to those who are physically disabled, mentally ill, recovering addicts or fleeing domestic violence and because she is trying to recover from a fire on a paycheck-to-paycheck income, she doesn't qualify.
GoFundMe is our last resort. Without significant financial assistance Angelyna and her children will have to live in the shelter long term.
Angelyna needs safe housing for herself and her children and reliable transportation so she is able to get to her job and take her children to school/daycare. Please donate if you are able and help this struggling family get back on their feet.
