Help Erin Survive a Double Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Twenty years ago, Erin survived leukemia. She had a bone marrow transplant which saved her life, but also caused severe damage to her lungs - damage that has progressively worsened over time.

Now, Erin is facing the fight of her life once again.

She is currently undergoing evaluation through the Toronto Lung Transplant Program in hopes of being placed on the transplant list for a double lung transplant. After years of pushing through worsening symptoms, even basic daily tasks have become exhausting for Erin. Things many of us take for granted: climbing stairs, carrying groceries, getting through a normal day now leave her struggling for breath and completely drained. The strain on her body has become so severe that her heart is beginning to be affected as well.

And still, Erin continues to show up for the people she loves with kindness, compassion, and care. She is a loving mom to teenage twins, a dedicated acupuncturist, and someone who has spent years supporting and caring for others in her community. Anyone who knows Erin knows how deeply she loves people and how often she puts others before herself.

As part of the transplant process, Erin will need to relocate to Toronto for an extended period of time (at least 6 to 12 months) along with her designated transplant support person. During this time, she will be unable to work while undergoing treatment, surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation. Both parties need to keep their home lives stable and functioning in Nova Scotia while they are away.

The costs associated with this journey are overwhelming. Funds raised will help cover:
• Temporary housing in Toronto
• Travel costs between Halifax and Toronto
• Meals and daily living expenses
• Parking and transportation to appointments
• Medications and medical-related expenses
• Childcare and family support needs
• Lost income during recovery and caregiving

Some expenses may eventually be partially reimbursed, but many will not. Like many families, we do not have the savings needed to absorb these costs while navigating a major medical crisis.

If you are able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean the world to Erin and all of us who love her.

Every contribution helps relieve some of the financial pressure so Erin can focus on what matters most: surviving this transplant and healing.

Thank you for supporting Erin through this incredibly difficult chapter and for helping give her the chance at more time with her children, family, friends, and community.
