Early one morning, while my fiancé Engel Arredondo was taking our children to daycare, he was stopped by ICE. Agents surrounded his vehicle, violently broke his driver-side window, and pulled him out of the car while our children were still inside. It was a terrifying and traumatic experience for our family.

Engel has lived in the United States since he was 5 years old—over 25 years. He has built his entire life here. At the time of his detention, his work permit renewal was already in process, yet nothing protected him from being detained and facing deportation.

Now, with only one income, our bills are piling up, and it has become nearly impossible for me to keep up on my own. On top of everyday expenses, we are facing overwhelming legal and immigration costs as we fight to bring Engel back home and start the proper immigration process.
