Help Emma and Ellie through rehabilitation

Donation protected
Regand Park ECEC is raising money to support Emma and Ellie through Rehabilitation.

On the 9th July 2022, Emma received a phone call to make her way down to Wollongong, receiving the most devastating news that her daughter Ellie had suffered a traumatic brain injury. She had emergency surgery in Wollongong and later that day was airlifted to Randwick Sydney Children’s Hospital. Ellie is now out of acute care and has started her rehabilitation. Emma and Ellie remain in Sydney for an unknown time as she is supported through her rehabilitation. When the medical team make the decision for Ellie to return home, she will continue to be supported by Emma in her rehabilitation back in their hometown of Dubbo.

During this journey, Ellie has required specialist help and equipment. Ellie needs to wear specialised boots and an AFO's to help support her legs in order to walk. Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) are among the most commonly prescribed lower limb orthoses. They are custom made for each individual to encompass the foot, ankle and leg, finishing just below the knee.
Ellie is having daily therapy from Occupational, Speech and Play Therapists to assist in rewiring her brain and relearning tasks and actions, like using her left hand to pick up an object.
The money raised will continue to support Emma and Ellie on their journey through rehabilitation, ensure they can continue accessing specialists when they get back to Dubbo, and make any necessary modifications to their house so Ellie can return home. Thank you so much for your support.
