Help ease Julie’s worries for her family
Hello everyone,
My name is Fiona Helfer and I am a friend of Julie Rampling and her family.
On behalf of Julie and her children I would like to tell you a little bit about Julie and her story.
Just over a year ago Julie and I were walking every morning. She was fit and healthy and involved in all of her children’s activities.
One thing Julie loved was to help out at the local footy club where her daughter plays. Working in the canteen and being a part of it all.
Julie is the type of person that loves to help others out and does so without questions.
She is a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a trusted and loyal friend.
Julie woke up one morning with a swollen eye and thought she might have suffered a slight stroke or had Bell’s palsy.
When it didn’t clear up she went into the Eye and Ear Hospital where a doctor predicted a tumour. After further testing the conclusion showed Stage 4 Lung Cancer which had metastasised to other vital organs. Julie’s prognosis is terminal and she was given twelve months to live - that was ten months ago.
Julie has been getting ongoing chemotherapy and radiation to try and help stabilise her cancer and hopefully give her a little more time with her children but this has made her quite sick and Julie now finds it hard to do the things she loves on a day to day basis.
Julie will leave behind her six children ranging in age from 27 to 10. Lauren (Julie’s eldest daughter who is recently married and has two young children herself) will take on the raising of her siblings to keep them all together. Julie’s younger two children lost their father seven months prior to Julie’s diagnosis and while they have been trying to deal with the loss of their dad they are now having to face a life without their mother too.
Julie never complains no matter what she is struggling with, she would rather be there for other people than dwell on herself.
Although Julie would never ask for help we know that these months ahead are going to be very hard for her and her family.
Julie’s major concern is the emotional responsibility that her two eldest daughters will be dealing with as well as the financial responsibilities that Lauren will be taking on while raising her siblings.
Although this is going to be one of the hardest things this family has ever had to go through any little bit you can do to help is going to be greatly appreciated and help ease Julie’s mind about her family’s future.
We thank you so much for your generosity and support during these hard months ahead for the family.
