Help Derek Battle Cancer: Your Support Matters
Donation protected
We are reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers in the hope that we can come together to support Derek's fight against cancer!
The start of 2025 came with shocking and devastating news as we found out that Derek has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, which, is a rare diagnosis, especially for an active 31-year-old with no smoking history.) Over the course of more than six months of relentless problem-solving, what began as progressively worsening back and hip pain was met with a series of unsuccessful interventions and prolonged periods of frustrating delays. Eventually, imaging revealed the cause of his symptoms, leading to a diagnosis no one could have ever anticipated.
The next steps for Derek include aggressive treatments, including radiation, chemotherapy, and possible surgical intervention, all of which will come with mounting medical costs. In addition, we are seeking integrative care that will not be covered by insurance.
While we are doing everything we can to stay positive and keep his spirits strong, the financial strain of medical bills, hospital stays, traveling to receive care, and the need for time away from work to focus on recovery inevitably becomes overwhelming.
Of course, Derek never imagined having to be in a position where he would need to ask for help, but we know sometimes it’s okay to lean on others when life takes an unexpected turn. Your generous contributions will help cover the direct costs of his treatment. We are hoping to keep Derek and his family focused on healing and staying strong without any worry of how to make ends meet.
Derek is deeply humbled by the support he has already received from friends and family, and it means the world to us to know that so many people are sending their love, prayers, and positive thoughts. If you are able to contribute, whether big or small, it will make a world of difference. If you are unable to donate at this time, simply sharing this page and keeping Derek and his family in your thoughts is appreciated more than words can express.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey. We know that Derek can face this challenge head-on, and together, we will get him through this!
We will continue to update this page with any new developments.
