Help David's Family Through Medical Crisis
Donation protected
Hello All- My name is Kathy and I am here to ask for your help for dear friends, The Himes Family a hardworking and loving family from Warrenton, Virginia.
The Himes are a single-income family who have always managed to make ends meet and provide for their family. However, they are currently facing a challenge that no family should have to face alone.
This past Saturday, David's son, Blake found him struggling to talk, to move his arm/hand, to put his shoes on as they were headed out that morning together for quality time. Blake's fast thinking got David into the truck and to the hospital without telling David where they were going. David needed help and was being quite stubborn, now I know those that know David, find that very hard to believe. Once examined it was determined he had a stroke. Many tests were done that day and medications given to try to get him back to his normal happy go lucky self. It was determined David needed to have further testing done and was transferred to Prince William Hospital for this. Tests were done on Monday and determined David needed further intervention and talks were under way with his medical team. David and Lorie were sitting enjoying their Monday evening just the two of them in his hospital room when David started to have another stroke. He was rushed away for testing and determined he now needed to be transferred to Inova Fairfax Hospital and possible bypass surgery. Within the hour he was transported lights and sirens to Inova and rushed into surgery. It was supposed to be about 6 hours before the family would know any updates, no news was good news. Within an hour of him going into surgery, a doctor came to the family waiting area to deliver news that was devastating. His left side carotid artery is 100% occluded, meaning blocked with plaque, it's inoperable. They also discovered he had a blood clot in his heart and three in the brain. They moved him to ICU and started medication to try and breakdown the blood clots. He was surrounded by family and friends visiting him throughout the day on Tuesday, trying to lift his spirits and get him to respond to conversation. As of this morning, David is working hard to recover.
David is the sole provider for his family and work is obviously on hold indefinitely. David does not have health insurance so his family has not only lost their income to cover living expenses and necessities but will have a burden from the medical bills as they come in.
Our goal is to raise $50,000. This will go a long way in ensuring that the Himes can focus on David’s recovery without the added stress of financial hardship.
Any amount that you can contribute will make a significant difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your network. The more people who are aware of the Himes’ situation, the more help we can provide. Let’s come together and show the Himes family that they’re not alone in this fight.
