Help Darroch Parsley See His Family 1 Last Time
On June 2nd, Darroch Parsley shared the very sad news with us that his doctor has advised him that he only has several weeks or a couple of months left to live. He is currently in the hospital in Edmonton where he was undergoing chemo and radiation in his fight against cancer. Unfortunately, the treatments have not been effective and have been only causing intense pain. He and his doctor have decided that it is time to stop treatment, and prepare to say goodbye.
It took alot of guts for Darroch to lay that down but we're not surprised. Darroch, or Newf as we call him, is just as tough in 2021 as he was in 1971. A straight shooter who always had our backs.
A sliver of good news, is that his Doc has given him the OK to travel.
Darroch was born in NFLD, and still has family there - but the flights there are too long and arduous for his current state of health.
Instead, we want to fly him in to Montreal, then drive him to Brockville where his brother, Richard lives.
We will give this wonderful man a chance to say goodbye to his family and friends, in person.
Funds raised will be used to help pay for a first class round-trip flight and other travel expenses, from Edmonton to Montreal. Any funds left over will be given to Darroch to help him make the most of the time he has left. We plan to bring him home for 2 weeks, as soon as he is out of the hospital, so he can see everyone without exhausting himself, given his current fragile state of health. We do not have the luxury of time, and need to act quickly.
It's so nice to have the opportunity to say goodbye to someone before they go. Darroch did just that today. So let's give a little of that back.
The amount of money that you contribute is not the point. We will present him with a huge card upon his arrival, with the names of all who contributed. Absolutely no money amount will appear -just your name. Darroch is known and loved by many from NDG's Benny Farm. The friends behind this request have had the pleasure and privilege to be Darroch's friends since elementary school at St. Monica's, in NDG (Montreal). Bill Robinson, Brian Duffy, Ricky Grant & Don McDougall.
