My name is Christilene and I am Fundraising for Dale Charlemagne.

Dale was born and raised in the Commonwealth island of Dominica. He was healthy and vibrant as a youth and actively played soccer for his community, he worked construction into his late 20s. In 2010 he was diagnosed with a heart disease called Mitral stenosis. Dale still tried working as a security office and eventually had to stop because of the pandemic. Mitral stenosis is a form of valvular heart disease characterized by narrowing of valves pumping blood to his heart. He also has chronic atrial fibrillation which increases the risk of developing heart failure that affects quality of life, including cognitive function. As a result, he has developed rheumatic carditis a condition in which the heart valves have been permanently damaged by rheumatic fever. In 2016 he was supposed to undergo surgery to correct his heart condition, but that was not successful.

I have come to know Dale through a friend since 2022. Since knowing him I’ve spoken with him via cellphone several times and have seen him in this unwell state. In speaking with Dale, I learned that a few years back there was a pervious attempt to get help through GoFundMe but that attempt wasn’t successful. Unfortunately the page not managed well and the funds were sent back to doners. This pulled at my heart strings and brings me to creating this page on Dale's behalf.

Dale can’t work as a result of his illness. Making him unable to afford basic living, medical expenses including doctor's visits and medication. He takes several pills daily to treat and stabilize his condition.

The surgery he was told at that time would cost $15-20K US dollars. Unfortunately, Dale had to opt for medicine to treat his condition as he could not afford to pay for this surgery.
