Help Daisy Grow Strong and Healthy

Daisy Maxine Ballstadt was born 15 weeks early on September 23rd at 9:34 am. Weighing 2lbs and measuring 13 1/2 inches long and with a lot of fight she stole all of our hearts immediately. 
We went into the emergency room that same morning with what we thought was something simple medically happening with mom. Within an hour or so Daisy’s blood pressure dropped from 144 bpm to 90’s then to the 60’s. Doctor Johnson decided right then she needed to come out for her well being. They wheeled mom across the hall into the emergency room and Daisy was out in around 5 mins. 
All the nurses and doctors worked quickly with so much skill and compassion that they ultimately saved our lives. We will never forget what they did for all of us for as long as we live. 
Daisy was taken down to the Nicu at Children’s, and that is where we have been for the past two weeks. Though she is having an appropriate recovery for her age she still has some medical issues she’s trying to overcome. Her lungs are not fully developed yet leading to pulmonary hemorrhage ( bleeding in the lungs) which is being treated with medication and is still an ongoing concern ( this is not uncommon for babies her age and size). She also is dealing with an enlarged PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus- extra blood vessel found in babies) which us causing her to rely more on oxygen from her ventilator, but this is being treated with Tylenol and had since shrunk in size from 2.8mm to 2.0mm. She has gained a little weight and is responding super well to her feedings. Over all she’s fighting hard. 
Everyday is a new day filled with achievements and set backs, but we’re optimistic that she’s going to grow big and strong and come home with mommy and daddy.
