Calvin, our family’s beloved 7-year-old German Shorthair Pointer, was recently diagnosed with insulinoma, an aggressive and fast-moving tumor on his pancreas. If you know Calvin, you know he is pure joy in dog form — endlessly active, gentle, loyal, and happiest when he’s right beside his people. This diagnosis was devastating and completely unexpected. Between the surgery to remove the tumor, post-operative care, plus nearly $3,000 already paid for emergency visits, testing, and CT scan, the cost for care is adding up quickly. Calvin is young, strong, and has so much life left to live — and we are determined to give him that chance.
My brother, Drew, and sister-in-law, Bre, who were just married in August, along with my niece, Adriana, are doing everything they can to save their boy, but the financial weight is overwhelming. They are the kind of hardworking, community-oriented Park City family that always shows up for others. Breana is the general manager at Yuki Yama, one of Park City’s most beloved and busiest restaurants, and Drew is a manager at Cole Sport, serving locals and visitors for over 10 years with the same heart and dedication he shows his dog. They’ve given so much to this town, and now they could really use a little help back.
In a community where dogs are family, we’re hoping that those who know and love them — and those who simply understand how special this bond is — can help lighten the burden and give Calvin the fighting chance he deserves.
For most of us, asking for help is not easy. And it’s not easy for them either. But this is what community is for. Any bit of donation helps. Thank you, from our family to yours
