Hi, my name is Roger, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Brian.

Brian is a kind, caring, and hardworking person with a big heart. He’s a graphic designer who also writes satire and is an incredible guitar player. The only thing he loves more than his friends, video games, and music are his two young nephews.

On October 8th, Brian was involved in a serious scooter accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. We still don’t know exactly what happened, but he was discovered by an ambulance with severe injuries to his head and face, next to his broken helmet. He was hospitalized in Kings County Hospital for over a month, much of that time unable to speak or move his right side. For a while, we were uncertain how much he would recover.

The good news is that Brian is doing remarkably today. He is out of the hospital, and is able to walk, play with his nephews, and is back to practicing on his guitar! However, his speech and memory are just slowly coming back.

In addition to major medical expenses, Brian sustained severe dental trauma in the accident. The dental reconstruction he needs is extensive and, unfortunately, largely not covered by insurance. We have been told that the out-of-pocket cost for this work alone will be at least $25,000. In addition, Brian is facing ongoing medical bills and living expenses while he is unable to work during his recovery.

This fundraiser is to help cover:

• Critical dental reconstruction related to the accident

• Medical expenses not covered by insurance

• Basic living expenses while Brian focuses on healing
