I made this go fund me page in hopes to raise money for my younger sister (Amy) and her boyfriend (Brodie). Amy and Brodie are both 19 years old and students. Approximately 3 weeks ago they purchased an Australian Shepard (Remy) off a breeder in Bright, ON. 2 days after having Remy he started to become sick. He was throwing up, having diarrhea and was very lethargic. Over the next 2 days he was in and out of the animal hospital and vet office. Initially all the vets suspected Parvo, a virus that can easily kill puppies, but the tests kept coming back negative. As Remy’s health was declining fast he was transferred to the Guelph Animal Hospital. Remy spent the next 3 days fighting for his life. He was put on multiple IVs, a feeding tube, oxygen, and received 2 blood transfusions as his white blood cell count was at 0. Unfortunately, on the 3rd night Remy went into cardiac arrest and passed away. Remy ended up having Parvo. The poor boy was only 9 weeks old, and spent only 4 days with his owners who would have given him a great life.
With all of this came expensive pet bills. My sister and Brodie ended up spending 8 thousand dollars at the Guelph Animal Hospital. This is not including the extra vet costs from the previous days. As they kept in contact with the breeder during this process, they found out multiple dogs in the litter had parvo as well. The breeder is not willing to help pay any of the vet bills!! As students this has tremendously hurt them financially and mentally. Nobody should have to experience what they went through with an animal they barely got to see.
