Hello my name is Amber, i am the daughter. This go fund me is in honor of my father Peter Allen. Peter has not had an easy life. He had a failed back surgery about 20-25 years ago that causes him severe pain to this day. years later he developed an infection in his foot that almost turned deadly and about turned to sepsis. He lives in pain daily. He has overcome addiction by himself years ago without help. He has chronic insomnia that causes him to go days without sleeping. it can make him very sick if he doesn't sleep. In December 2022 he was trying to stop someone from breaking into his car and the group proceeded to attack him and beat every inch of his body., they left him outside alone in the dark and in the freezing cold snow. he had to walk up three flights of stairs himself while he could barely walk or breathe. He couldn't walk, he was covered in bruises for months. The beating caused his previous back injury to flare up and the doctors could never find a definite cause for why he wasn't healing. His leg was also very badly injured and fractured. about a year ago he was diagnosed with COPD.
In March of this year due to severe pneumonia he passed out unconscious and his roommate had to call 911 for him. He was on the verge of death and they had to shock him back to life. He was kept sedated and unconscious due to severe pain and 6-7 horrendous infections that infectious disease could not identify. He was on a ventilator as his own lungs could not be trusted to keep him alive and breathing. They ran multiple tests. EEG’s, enough MRI’s to cover at least ten different people. He was sedated for over two weeks with little to no progress. He stayed in the hospital for over a month. He couldn’t walk or move without help due to lack of strength and muscle use. He wasn’t doing well before this hospital stay and had barely any leg muscle. He couldn’t use his arms to hold anything up or grip things. They did countless physical therapy and occupational therapy appointments. A feeding tube was placed. He could barely swallow due to ventilator removal pain. He lost a significant amount of weight. He was moved to assisted living in the last week of April. He was doing physical therapy and trying to get better. About three weeks in he developed another infection due to his catheter and ended up with a very swollen throat. He was doing better for about two weeks. He was put on hospice for failure to thrive and not eating. They placed a feeding tube but agreed to remove it and dad started eating real food and was doing better. Yesterday took a turn and he developed pneumonia again and they do not think he will make it much longer. We will be cremating him. I unfortunately cannot cover the cost of everything and cremation. I am asking for any and all help. I am the only family member physically here to be with him and it’s taking a toll on me too. But this is about him. I need any help i can get. He will also appreciate it. Thank you again everyone.
