Help Amber Fuller Recover From Burn Attack

Donation protected
*Update 03/03/21*

Hey all! We're currently closing the fundraiser to new donations, per Amber's request. Her hospital bills have been covered and we don't think any additional funds will be needed for the future. There are still treatments that may not be covered by insurance, which have been recommended by her surgeon, so the funds already raised here will go to any costs incurred there. It will also cover the time she was unable to work while recovering and supplement her income while she is still unable to maintain a full time schedule to heal and take time off for treatments.

Thank you to everyone who has given support during her recovery! It is deeply appreciated and has really helped our family have some peace of mind while dealing with everything that has happened since September. We'll keep the page up so Amber or I can post updates or in the unlikely event that she would ever need extra financial help in the future, though we currently do not anticipate this happening.

Thank you all again for being invested in her well being and the extremely generous display of support you all provided!

On September 2nd at 8:45 am, Amber Fuller was walking her dogs like she does every morning, when she was attacked and set on fire by a man she doesn't know. She was able to run and yell for help but suffered second and third degree burns to her back, stomach, and most of her right arm and hand. Her main concern when she was attacked was for the safety of her dogs, she wouldn't let the ambulance leave until she knew they were both safe.

Amber is a licensed massage therapist, a job which relies heavily on the use of her arms to assist her clients in their well being. This attack will not only have lasting physical repercussions for her everyday life, but will permanently impact her ability to do a job she loves so much. Making people feel better and helping them focus on their health is her greatest passion and today that may have been taken away from her.

We currently don't know what the full extent of her medical bills will be, or how long she will need treatment, but burn recovery is slow and she will be in the hospital for at least a week and she will be out of work for at minimum two months, if she is able to continue practicing massage at all. As of 11/02/20 the total we have for her doctor and hospital bills is $92,667.18. This total covers all of her medical expenses so far including initial hospital stay, ambulance fee, recurring doctor's appointments, and skin graft surgery. We haven't factored in the cost of her prescription medications which she's paid for out of pocket.

We're looking to raise money to cover at least two months worth of lost wages as well as a portion to be used for her medical bills. As an independent contractor, she was not insured at the time of the attack, which is why we are anticipating her out of pocket costs to be extensive.

Despite everything, she has kept her usual joyful spirit and is optimistic about her recovery. She's been grateful she was able to go home after everything and know that her dogs were safe.

This fundraiser is being managed by Amber's elder sister Brittany and all money will go to her recovery efforts. We will post updates as we can and adjust our goals as we learn more about her full medical costs and prognosis.

If you live in the Southeastern Wisconsin area and are interested in helping out more directly, there is currently a local fundraiser happening in Brookfield which includes raffle prizes and the ability to donate directly. Details can be found here: https://fb.me/e/1z3efA2wf

If you can't donate, please share this with your friends and family to spread the word, even the smallest donation means everything to us during this time.

Thank you!
