Hey there! I'm a friend of Kyle's and I'm helping in making this fundrasier for his family that live in rural Ontario, Canada. All donations will go directly to his family!

A Quick Intro:
We are The 'Morbid' Family; we are a family of four, with multiple disabled members, but are choosing to keep some details private such as our last name and location while we navigate these trying times. Get to know us better further below!

Why the fundraiser?
We recently found out our landlord is looking to sell our 2 bedroom (with basement and space for a 3rd room) rental home before the year ends.

This lead to us looking at the current market for other rental units or what the buying market looked like.

In doing so and crunching some numbers we found that *buying* the house we currently live in *from* our landlord would be the most feasible and realistic option available to us as rental prices have soared while the housing market for what we can afford is next to non-existent.

For examples, a 2 bedroom *apartment* with no room for a 3rd bedroom would run almost 1.5 times more than what the mortgage would be by buying the house we currently live in, while a similar rental would be two times or more.

At the current rates, and with our income, we won't be accepted for current rentals on the market as we don't bring in enough to be approved, so the focus is on a mortgage which would go for less than the rental market currently.

The main issue for us right now being the down-payment for securing the mortgage.

With disabled members in our family, an accessible home is necessary, as is a house located within a short distance from essential amenities as we don't have a vehicle or driver's license while limited mobility means walking longer distances isn't feasible. -> Our current home meets these needs more than what's available currently on the market.

Fundraiser Reasoning:

•We're reaching out to a bigger range of communities and kind folks who may be able to offer their generosity in the form of donations, in helping our family keep a roof over our head for the present and future.

•A family of 4, with two adults, one working full-time at a little over minimum wage and one who is a freelance artist in need of ODSP support, needing financial help to secure a down-payment and give us access to a mortgage which would be more affordable than the current rental and home market in our area

•Keep the roof over our heads

•Buying our rental home is the most feasible option available to us with a deadline looming

•Keep us in the area we currently live -> this is essential and a key aspect of the situation

•Our family income (between work and ODSP coverage), along with the minimal government grants or eligible loans available to us isn't enough to gather enough funds in a short amount of time to pay for the down-payment, closing costs etc

•Keep our current home which is located within short walking distance to essential amenities

Our Goals:

•$20,200 to secure the minimum down-payment -> This is our main target

•Up to $80,800 to secure a larger down-payment which would eliminate the need for "default insurance" (an added fee worth a few thousand dollars when the downpayment is less than 20%) and lower our overall mortgage amount -> This is a stretch goal but would go a *long* way in helping our future!

•$90,000+ to cover the down-payment and have money to put towards extra accessibility upgrades in the house for the parent in need of such upgrades that won't be covered by ODSP.

How We Will Be Using Donations:

All donations no matter how big or small would be *greatly* appreciated! Every little bit counts!

We will be using all donations up to the second goal to put towards the down-payment and purchase. Anything from the 3rd goal would go towards the above *and* house improvements & accessibility upgrades.

Potentially lower mortgage payments would mean more left over every month to go towards renovating places of need such as a backyard porch with no accessibility or light fixtures and bathroom fixtures needing replacements, renovations or upgrades like wheelchair accessible kitchen counter tops, HEPA grade air filters for all of of our air vents and leveling out our lawn for mobility aide accessibility.
