Help a dear friend pay for leukemia treatment!

Donation protected
Hello! We are a close-knit group of pals that have recently found out that one of our dearest friends has been diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (also called T-cell ALL). For the sake of respecting their wishes to maintain privacy, we will keep their identity anonymous, but that will not stop us from doing what we can to support our friend.

It was 11:16 PM on Tuesday, April 6th when we have received a text message from our friend, detailing their exact situation at the moment. “Well guys, I have cancer,” they said. Though it seemed nonchalant, there was absolutely no sugarcoating the situation. Although there was some suspicion of the possibility of cancer up until that day, none of us actually expected that it would soon become the harsh reality for our friend. We were surprised. We were confused. We were angry. We were heartbroken. I feel as though most of us did a good job sending supportive and affirming messages in the moment, but that’s not to say that we were not scared by any means. Although the news did shock us a fair bit, the immeasurable amount of despair and helplessness we have experienced definitely does not amount to what their family must be going through right now. The reality is that we cannot personally do anything about the cancer itself, but all we can try to do is be loving and supportive to our friend, tending to whatever needs they may have.

After a bit of research, we have discovered the true nature of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It is a blood cancer originating from the bone marrow that is aggressive and progresses quickly. T-cell ALL causes a greater tendency of bleeding from the gums and nose and bruising on the skin. People diagnosed with T-cell ALL frequently experience bone pains, fatigue, tiredness, and weakness. As a result of this cancer, they are more susceptible to swollen lymph nodes, fevers, and frequent illness. Ultimately, the cost of treating T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, including chemotherapy, induction therapy, consolidation therapy, and maintenance therapy, amounts to tens of thousands of dollars, sometimes upwards of $80,000 in adults.

I ask you all on behalf of all of us and our friend’s family for financial support at this time. The immense burden that our friend’s family is feeling can be at least partially relieved with everyone’s donation to the cause. Our friend is more than just our friend. They have continually brought happiness, laughter, and just sheer joy to everyone they have ever talked to. Their presence and existence is a gift to everyone around them. They deserve absolutely everything we can possibly give them. Please help us support our friend that we love very much.

This pandemic has been hard for every single one of us, so we completely understand that everyone has their fair share of hardships on their plates right now. Because of that, we will forever appreciate each and every contribution, share, and click this fundraiser receives.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read the story of our friend.
